1. Eleanor Kane Neary
Over the years, I have collected many recordings of the wonderful piano player Eleanor Kane Neary. They include recordings from Eleanor’s daughter Eileen, fiddle player Frank Burke from Co. Mayo, recordings made by Mick Moloney, now deposited in the Tamiment Library of NYU, fiddle player Phil Durkin from Co. Sligo, from Catherine McGreevy, wife of the great fiddle player Johnny McGreevy and from Kevin Henry. I have long admired the playing of Eleanor and I am delighted to share the following tracks to show how incredibly versatile she was on the piano. I have also included a few tracks of Eleanor and Johnny McGreevy playing together, as they were partners in music throughout their lives from their teenage years.
