2. Johnny Henry & Mick Joe Ryan 1965
Kevin & Pauline Henry returned to Ireland for a holiday in the Summer of 1965 and while there, Kevin recorded this house session of his brother Johnny ( fiddle) playing with his long-time playing partner Mick Joe Ryan (flute) in the Henry home in Doocastle.Mick Joe was a student of the Cloontia flute player Paddy Jim Frank and Mick and Johnny played together at many house dances and weekend dances held in a local disused creamery converted to a dance hall from their early playing days in the 1940s. The two sketches below are by renowned artist Harold Riley circa 1960.
