A Sliabh Luachra manuscript, a recording from Chicago & a podcast interview with Harry Bradshaw5/7/2026 In this update I continue to share my music manuscripts with a wonderful collection of handwritten Sliabh Luachra music I received from the family of Cuz Teahan. This collection forms the first section of what was known as Cuz’s black book, a notebook he brought back to Chicago on his return from a vacation to Ireland in 1956. He continued to add to this notebook with transcriptions of his own tunes throughout his life.
For Sharing the Music, I include a recording made by Tom Masterson of Chicago-based musicians in Hanley’s House of Happiness in 1965. This recording was to share with family and friends on Tom’s vacation to Ireland later that year. While in Ireland, Tom made several recordings of Irish musicians to take back to Chicago, and I will share these recordings in future up-dates. Finally, in my podcast series Irish Music Memories, I share an interview with sound engineer, radio producer, record producer, researcher and lecturer Harry Bradshaw. Richie Piggott Chicago
