4. Dance Music Manuscript
(from the family of Cuz Teahan)
This manuscript was gifted to me by Paudie Sullivan, nephew of Cuz. It is not known whether the manuscript was brought over from Ireland or whether Cuz acquired it here in US after he emigrated in 1933. There is no definite connection between this collection and the Sliabh Luachra area however, Paudie recalled Cuz always referred to this collection as that of “The Dancing Master”. The mystery of the unknown author of this manuscript was solved when I received a call from Chicago fiddle player Liz Carroll who informed me the manuscript was actually written by her many years ago and she must have given it or left it with Cuz Teahan. She did add, Cuz spoke on many occasions of Dancing Masters who were in the Castleisland area as he was growing up , which may have incorrectly attributed this manuscript to one of these masters. Thank you Liz for this information.
