1. Edward Cronin CollectionEdward Cronin was born c.1838 in Limerick Junction, County Tipperary. As a boy, Cronin was already in demand as a fiddler, playing tunes and long dances for experienced dancers. A weaver by trade, he immigrated to Troy, New York where he was unable to find work. He later moved to Chicago. Cronin was the source of many tunes in Francis O’Neill’s published work and he regarded as an important teacher of Irish music in Chicago, although O’Neill noted that Cronin’s unique style of bowing and slurring was difficult to pass on to others...

2. Patrick O'Leary ManuscriptPatrick O’Leary was born in Drungoon, near Cootehill, Co. Cavan in 1851. He emigrated to America and from there to Australia, where he lived in Adelaide for the remainder of his life. 4. Dance Music ManuscriptThis manuscript was gifted to me by Paudie Sullivan, nephew of Cuz. It is not known whether the manuscript was brought over from Ireland or whether Cuz acquired it here in US after he emigrated in 1933. There is no definite connection between this collection and the Sliabh Luachra area however, Paudie recalled Cuz always referred to this collection as that of “The Dancing Master”.
